New Kimber
« on: April 06, 2010, 03:17:52 PM »
Tonight I bought a Kimber SIS Custom.  I have been without a 1911 for years, and decided I needed one again.  I get to pick it up Thursday evening, and am looking forward to getting to know this gun.  I will be giving my 4506 to my son.  It has been flawless except the trigger is no where near as clean and crisp as this Kimber.

I have wanted another 1911 almost since I sold my last one.  With Kimber discontinuing the SIS models the store discounted it to the point were I had to buy.  I pick it up tomorrow evening.

Congrats. I shot my friends Kimber and ran out and bought myself one. I picked up a raptor and love it.

I shot it today after giving it a good cleaning, and it worked well.  I noticed it is the first new gun I have ever had that the initial cleaning did not yield lots of chips and such.  Inside this gun was clean.  Is was so stiff I could hardly rack the slide when I first got it.  It is much easier now after 200 rounds.  I also think I will need to move the sights, grouping about 6 inches left at 15 yards.  I will run a few hundred rounds through it before making this change.

It handles well, has a great trigger, and so far so good.

6" left at 15 yards?  That will be a significant adjustment to the rear sight.  Is that from a rest?  Maybe put a little more of your trigger finger into squeezing.

Thanks.  I tried again today with more finger on the trigger and it is at poa.  It is quite a bit different from my Glock.
