? SMI or STI----picture added

I am thinking of trading for a 1911 and have a question. It is stamped
 SMI  MA INC.
 WORCHESTER.MA
The guy says that it is actualy made by STI . Does anyone know anything about this company or the story behind it? thanks.  Pat

Is this a new 1911 or a used one?  Pre auto ordnance brfore Kahr or post Kahr AO?

        130 Goddard Memorial Drive
        Wooster, Mass.
        Holds an "A" rating for ISO 9002( a very good rating to have)

It reads to me there in with Kahr (auto ordnance) people.  But i can't find anything on a 1911.
