I would love to see all the powder makers start selling there powders in about 4 oz cans. it would be great to try out a now powder with out having to buy a whole pound and not having it work well

I guess at one time buying one pound instead of a keg was a cheap but at todays prices and with the variety of powders it sure would be nice to buy a 1/4 pound. What avid reloader doesn't have half dozen or so misc. cans gather dust in the back of their cupboard. It's pretty hard to sell an opened can.

It would be nice to be able to buy 20 packs of bullets as well.

that is the reason I would love to see the 1/4 lb cans. It is a shame to just trow away some powder. IT could be a safety thing what does one do with all the leftover powders that don't work?

According to the NRA, you can use small quantities as fertilizer. They add the caveat, "Always comply with all local state and federal ordinances." I would pick a day before it rains to do this if it were me.

The NRA also writes of burning powder outdoors but this is probably not an option in Maryland.

I doubt dealers would want to stock 1/4 pound cans of powder because they have to pay the same hazardous shipping charge as individuals even though they can spread it over a larger, though still limited, amount.

You might also think about offering unused cans of powder to fellow reloaders you know.

I do use the old pwder as firtulizer and burn it. But it that is a waste of money.
You are right they have to pay the same hazmat shipping fees as we do but it is on weight not by ammount, so they can order 100 of the /14 lb cans and still pay the same shipping as they would for 25 1 lb cans

One powder company tried that several years ago. Dunno what happened to the idea.

A better solution is to find your ol' lady a part time job. This has additional benefits other than the extra income. :wink:

I usually find it necessary to buy new guns to use up odd lots of powder.
I fear that the availability of smaller cans would tempt the "authorities" to further limit posession to a couple of cans and eliminate the keg, cannister and big one pound cans of dangerous substances, for our own good, of course, and to protect the children.

Maybe they could sell them in variety 6-packs. We used to get cereal like that when I was a kid (40 years ago). You know, the kind that you cut open the little box and pour your milk in them. Problem was, we ate the good stuff 1st and then nobody wanted the "non-sweatened" stuff. I suppose it would be the same with powder. But I would vote for the ability to buy smaller amounts.

I would also like to see them ship it in smaller containers.. Allthough 1/4lb maybe a bit small depending on what your loading for but 1/2lb would be nice.. Im kinda like Ross I have a 8lb jug of N170 and nothing to use it in. Well I can use it in my 25/06 but that gun doesnt liek it at all

I always thought it would be nice if someone would offer a kit for new calibers I want to try. It would include smaller quantities of brass, bullets, and a variety of powders that usually work well in that round.

What a coincidence, about a year ago my brother was telling me how nice it would be to buy or sell small quantitys of powder. He thought of doing it at gun shows. Sort of bring your own container or have small containers for sale. Would have to be really carefull though.
