.17 HMR

By the sales rate of these guns & cartridges, I think that the
.17 HMR may be here for a while!
The stores around where I live simply cannot keep
them on the shelves. I don't ever see it replacing the
.22 Mag., But I don't think that it was ever meant to either.
I like mine because it is something different, not better.
I must say that I am quite impressed with the .17 HMR.
I was a competitive shooter and I fired the tightest group
I have ever fired this weekend with a Marlin 17v.
(1 very small ragged hole at approx. 100 meters
with 6 shots)
I am wondering about how this cartridge may effect
smallbore competitions in the future, it is deadly accurate!
If someone creates a true "Target Rifle" for it, I think some new
smallbore records will be set.

"Target Rifle", You need to look into Volquartsen as well as other Barrel manufacturers, Kidd trigger and Mcmillan stocks, pretty easy to tweak an already fine "out of the box" shooter.
The sale of product as well as aftermarket upgrades have been booming.
This cartridge will eventually be a part of the smallbore competitions.
Ammo prices have dropped from $10/12 in March to $7.60.

I purchased a 17HMR last month and cannot believe how flat this little round shoots.
Target shooting at 100/150 yds is remarkable.
