It comes on an SS1 rimfire frame.

Yes, an SB2 frame would be required, it would need to be fitted by you or a smith.

Buy the parts in the Classifieds here, then you won't end up with a frame and barrel you don't need, or buy what you can and sell what you don't need to pay for the rechamber.  ;)

yeah i posted on the wtb a while back about a 17 hmr barrel , but no luck so far, hate to go buy a new one then have to turn around and swap frames and then have to send it off to get rechambered.

I have a 17hmr rifle that i was thinking of some thing like this. Will the chamber match up on the SB2 frame since the 17 is a rim fire?

Sure, the only barrels with bores that are offset on any H&R are the Versa Pack rimfire barrels, the SS1 rimfire frame has an offset firing pin to work with the rimfire barrels, I put a rimfire barrel on one of my SB2 frames and dropped the hammer on a spent case, it puts a nice pin strike in the middle of the rimfire headstamp.  ;)
