41 Magnum delight!
« on: September 23, 2011, 10:20:52 AM »
Never had a 41 magnum before.  There have been a swarm of Ruger Bisley SS 41 mags w/ 5.5" barrel for sale recently on gunbroker so I thought I get one as a companion to my beloved Lipsey Flattop Bisley 44 Special.   Don't know who ordered these 41, probably not Acusport, maybe Williams.

Anyway I got the thing and loaded up some rounds and have taken it to the range 3 times now.  I loaded 215 gr LSWC over 4.9 grs of Titegroup.  All shots so far have just been at just 15 yards, hand-held, yielding fist size ragged holes in the cardboard with each 50 rounds fired.  Lots of fun to shoot.  Very manageable and now I got 2 Bisley winners,  I'm a happy camper and I'm happy I 've started shooting the 41 magnum.

Anyone else here shoot 41s?  Like 'em, or not?  Dennis

My first .41 mag was a TC with a 14 inch barrel--in a state of stupidness I let myself be talked into trading it some years ago. About 10 years ago I bought a Ruger Blackhawk with a 6 inch barrel in .41 mag. It is super. I shoot 215 gr. cast swc and it shoots to point of aim at 25 yards all day long. It is a lot easier on your hands than a .44 mag IMO.

If any 41 fans read this and are interested in an Old model three screw, I know where one is in excellent condition for five and a half; a bit steep for a 357 but probably not the 41 mag.  The dealer usually throws in sales tax, making his price tag amounts "out the door" prices.
PM me if anyone might be interested in dealing with this shop for this Ruger.  I just picked up a nice Old Model Single Six from the same guy and he's also got a 7 1/2 inch 30 carbine and a couple of fixed sight SS's, one with a flat gate for about three and a half.

Cybin, hi!  What load are you using with the 215gr SWC?  Thanks, Dennis
