I am shooting a 30.06 Encore Pistol. I traded for it a while back. I have not shot a lot of factory ammo since I reload my own. However, I doubt it would be much less accurate than the handloads. I shot two doe deer with the pistol last Friday evening. I am shooting 165gr Nosler BT over H380. This gets about 2450 FPS. Accuracy is around 1"-2" back when I had a small scope. My new Burris 3-12x should tighten those groups up.
The performance on the deer was exceptional. They did not run a foot when the bullet hit them. Both were broadside shots with excellent expansion. Distance was about 70-100 yds for both of them. I am pleased with what the pistol is doing. Recoil is not terrible probably due to the long barrel. Seems to be more back that straight up. I will keep the barrel for a good long time most likely.
I did find that the load max of this barrel was not near what the reloading book said the max load should be. I am three grains off the max load because the primer starts to crater with the next .5gr of powder. It could be the CCI primers, but to be on the safe side I just lowered the powder charge.
