Remington Scoremaster 511-P
« on: February 13, 2010, 01:36:40 PM »
Hello, my father-in-law recently gave me a remington 511-P scoremaster rifle. It has 3 letters engraved on the left side of the barrel that are BUU. I heard that this tells when it was made. Can anyone tell me if they know? Also, does anyone know how to buy new clips for this gun? He also gave me a Ruger New Model Single-Six .22mag pistol. Anyone know what this gun might be worth? I would like to pay him something for it. I don't know how to look up how old it is, but the numbers engraved on it are 67-43019. If anyone knows how to find out how old it is, I would like to know. I am very new to this gun collecting and could use any info anyone has. Thanks in advance!

Tony

Tony,
You are correct, that is the date of manfacture BUU Jan 1949.  These models were manfactured from 1939-1962 approx 375,00 made.  Value, my best advise is to go to GunBroker and tipe in Remington 511P there should be some there and give you an idea of what they are asking for them.  The P is for peep sight, these will bring more than a regular 511, you should find some clips there also.  Ruger has a website you can look up the manfacture date on your Ruger, you father-inlaw is a good guy, two nice guns.

Tony,
The Ruger was manfactured in 1976.  Check with your father-inlaw and see if he has the other cylinder (22 LR)  not having the other cylinder will affect the value, but some were sold without both, see also he he has the box, just some things to look for.
