well, i have been using a sunrise vise i bought when i was about 12. it wasnt fancy, but it was a step up from my dads vise grips that i initially started off using. i watched some videos on you tube with the rotary vises (search "nor vise" "rotary vise") and not only got to see these vises in action and learn about how they are used; but i learned alot of neat little tricks that can be used for tying without even having a rotary vise.
this particular vise is made in america. and it is made ouf of aluminum with no rough edges. they do have a model that is made for salt water flyies and small ones, and adjustment is super quick and easy. once the fly is in the vise, it isnt going to move.
the things i like about it..... it is well made. it looks good. applying head cement and doing work on the underbody is sooo much easier when you can turn the fly around however you need it. putting materials on is 100x easier do to not having to go over, and around, and over....you just let the vise do all of that. quick and even layering of materials is so much easier. the time it takes to produce a fly is so much less than it used to be; it has made a huge amount of difference in how many i can tie in an hour.
