Savage-Stevens 35
« on: February 11, 2010, 11:11:26 AM »
A local gun shop has a Savage-Stevens 35 .22 bolt action, and they are asking $100.00. Other than a really ugly stock finish, looks to be in good shape. Is that a fair price for the rifle? Thanks.

The rifle is a clip-fed, bolt-action.

Stopped by the gun shop this morning, made an offer, and he countered with $75.00, so I bought it. The stock looks better after a little clean up. Bore and rifling are excellent. Can't figure out how to get the bolt out however. Other than that, I'm pretty happy.

Well, you are one of the first people here to have ever stumped me!
I am not familiar with that model at all. Is it a single shot or clip/tube fed?

AFAIK, The Stevens Model 35 was a break-open single-shot .22 pistol.

Offr the top of my head, I couldn't recall an M35 rifle, either - but my googlefu tells me there was such a creature made 1980-84, with scant other info available online.

When I get home, I'll check my Stevens history book.

FWIW, I would think that ANY functional & rust-free .22 is well worth $100.

Here ya go:

It's a bolt-action rimfire rifle, made between 1980-84, marked ".22 short, long, long rifle"; w/7-shot detachable magazine &. a 22" barrel.

They were 41.5" in overall length, with a hardwood stock.
