Barrel storage and toting.
« on: February 12, 2010, 11:33:08 AM »
Hello,

How do you deal with multiple barrels in storage and transport, especially for the rifles?  What sort of cases do you use?  Pics would be great!

Thanks,
P

For totting to where they will be shot mostly sihouette type attache cases, like TC's leather 10" barrel case, TC's "Indian Blanket" silhouette case and a bunch of silhouette hard side cases from different makers.   I like the hard side cases the best.   They can house any length of scoped barrels mixed together (pistol, carbine or rifle) as well as frames with furniture and barrels attached.

At home I made simple wood racks for the barrels.   Forty years ago when I only had factory pistol barrels small ones that fit in my safe - later hidden floor to ceiling wall racks in my shop because I had so many barrels.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

I like the hard side cases as well I think.

I attached all my barrels to frames, 6 in total.  I put the entire rifle in the case. I love the encores, but hate the barrel swapping thing so I get the whole rifle

I use a 32" takedown hard shotgun case that I bought at Gander Mountain.  It is about 32" x 18" x 5".  It will hold 2 or 3 barrels depending on the size of the scope.
