Anybody seen this with an Encore?
« on: February 14, 2010, 01:44:18 PM »
My Encore was misfiring about 1 in 4 rounds, and also pushing shells beyond where the extractor could eject them.  I was thinking excess headspace in this new barrel, problems with a weak hammer spring, or maybe a damaged firing pin.  Come to find out that when I put a new thumbhole buttstock on with this new barrel, the longer bolt that was needed actually threaded in to the frame far enough to interfere with the hammer spring operation.  I never have read this in a forum topic, or heard of it before.  Long story short I put another washer on the longer bolt, and all my problems went bye-bye.  No misfires, no extractor issues.  Thought I would share this learning the hard way story so maybe somebody else could save themselves some grief.  Happy shooting!

I had the same problem with a G2 and custom stock like to have never found the problem thanks for sharing, the problem I had was it would go off when you just touched the trigger.

What seemed strange to me was that I would think the bolt would stop the hammer from cocking or let you half cock the hammer, etc.  But I didn't think it could make these erratic misfires.  Learn something new once in a while....

still sound like your brass is still to far into the chamber just looking at your earlier post saying that the brass was going past the extractor. Try setting back the soulder just enough that it is flush with the back of the barrel
