9.3 x 64mm Brenneke - anyone else?
« on: March 02, 2010, 01:28:53 AM »
I have a custom Mauser in 9.3 x 64mm Brenneke that is a real favorite of mine.  Wondering if anyone else enjoys this cartridge as well...?

I've long admired it and thought I'd like to have either it or a 9,3x62 but have so far done nothing about getting either. In truth I have no particular use for either just a long burning desire so far not acted on.

I have not seen any rifles in 9.3 X 64 but I would think it not a lot different than the 9.3 X 62.
I have a Sig/ Sauer M 200 with a 9.3 X 62 and 308 Win. barrels, both are very accurate but I really like the 9.3x 62 the best.         Jedman

64 pushes a 286NP a couple hundred fps faster than the 62, which is a pretty good boost for a 286 grain bullet...

I knew a guy that had one, and it was a very good big game killer, easily enough for big bears on down...

its about the ballistic twin to the 375 H&H and thats saying something.  Adequate for any big game animal in the world.  I have a 9.3x62 and find it to be a very good big game rifle.  The 286gr parition is a great bullet for big tough animals.   The advantage of the x64 wasn't enough over the x62 for me.  The x62 had much more available brass and loaded ammo.  In a pinch you can make x62 brass from 06 brass but the same can't be said for the x64.

It is the ballistic equivalent of a .338 Win Mag necked up to .366.
