marlin 336sc 35 rem low ser. whats it worth?

This gun is a marlin 336sc in 35 rem. serial # is L8**  meaning L8, and two more numbers. Gun is in great shape other than having once been re-finished. no rust, smooth action. Just want to know more about it.

 the refinish destroys any potential collector value. It's value is only as a shooter or hunter.

FWIW, although the Marlin 336SC Sporting Carbine was introduced earlier, the .35 Rem wasn't offered until 1950.

Your rifle was made in 1954.

I had a 1954 made .35 Remington chambered Marlin 336. I picked it up for $80 I think it was from an estate auction and sold it for $250 I believe it was.

SC are somewhat more desirable. I would say that these are not collector guns anyway, so who cares about a refinish.

It is a Marlin .35

It is an SC

It is a pre Micro Groove

I would value a nice 336 in 30-30 at $250. I would say that these differences would put it around $350-400. If it has been bubba'd (extra holes fior sling, scope, sights, buggered screws, recoil pad, shortened stock, missing parts like rear sights, sight hood, screws, buttplate, non original anything, etc), then of course it is lower, If it has great wood, then it is higher. There are regional differences too. If you live in lever country, that is good, a shotgun only county is bad.

You got a great deal.  A shooter .35 is going for close to $400.00 these days.  I don't like the longer barrel but many do.

What's it worth?  After the first time you fire a 200 gr Coreloct or an RCBS 200 GC cast bullet into a whitetail, you'll think it to be priceless!
