Winchester ammo heavy crimp
« on: February 27, 2010, 04:15:55 AM »
OK, here is a real newbee question, yesterday I bought a box of Winchester Super X 45-70 300 gr. jacketed HP, but I noticed that the crimp is very heavy the case has a deep mark, I would like to know if this mark (crimp) is a problem for reloading? Here are two pictures.

Shouldn't be a problem.

It's gonna straighten out when ya shoot 'em. Most factory shells have a pretty good crimp like the ones you showed.

Those wont be a problem.  If you find some of the old military brass that had crimped in wood bullets, now those were a pain!!
