BAM air gun question
« on: March 24, 2010, 08:49:38 AM »
I bought a .22cal underlever BAM for $48, the box it came in and stamped on gun dont have a model number just the BAM logo on the receiver, the pamphlet was poorly translated with no pictures of any use in its maintenance.
I was interested in lubricating the internals of the gun without damageing the piston seal.
I removed the stock and was able to see most the the spring and trigger group but without removing the mainspring (looks like a job) I can lube the trigger and the lever pivot points.

Not knowing the composition of the plunger does cause a problem, I have an old Winchester 350 and once a year I spray a little silcon mold release into the chamber and holding the trigger down I work the barrel back and forth a few times to spread it out, With the mold release once the vehicle evaporates you are left with something that will resemble case sizing lube, I am pretty sure that the plunger in my rifle is made of leather, and it is still the original, now I'm not saying positivley that this is good for your rifle, but silicon is pretty much inert so I doubt it would hurt it, I'm just relaying what works for me, and I'm not an expert........................steg

Thanks for the info, I was flirting with the idea of a couple drops of Rain-X in the air chamber and working the piston. My piston seal is most likely to be synthetic, it will be a bear to ever replace it as the lever is all riveted together I'll have to drill out a lever rivet to dissemble then the Idea of unloading the main spring shouldent be a problem the biggie will be stuffing it all back into the receiver and pinning it.

The .22cal under lever is scarey monster looks like a fella could cut off/ bust your thumb with one of these.
I have a very old B1-1 .177cal that is fun to shoot and easy to load and uncock if a shot isant takeable, I like the idea I can break it open and while holding the barrel can pull the trigger and allow the piston to un-load slowly.
Not so with this particular under lever once its cocked you pretty much well have to shoot it.

Rex you might want to pose your question on the Chinese Airgun forum. I haven't been playing with my airguns much lately and I'm out of touch a bit with the online buzz.
