Mosin-Nagant conversion to .30/284 Winchester

There is an interesting video on YouTube called "Adapting a Mosin-Nagant 91-30 for winchester wildcats" showing a very straightforward conversion to a necked up 284 Winchester.  Any thoughts?  Think its safe?

I would guess it would be fairly easy, but why would you do it other than to have something unusual?  There is tons of 7.62/54 brass, surplus stuff is cheap, you can buy surplus ammo, pull the bullets and load up anything you like in them for the price of a primer and bullet.  They do have an odd controled feed system that may be a slight problem if you change brass size much and doing anything with a scope or a good trigger is a real pain.  If someone ever figures out something to good to make out of them they will probably make a few bucks.  Larry

Bannermans did a few conversions to .30-06. These are mostly deemed unsafe.

trotterlg is correct in the feeding system, the rounds do not feed the way we think of when we look ata a '03 or mauser. There is an interuptor that holds the cases in the magazine so when the cartridge is fed into the chamber the fed cartridges rim clears the next one down, this design eliminates rim lock. and I would agree that the case dimensions should be pretty close in diameter.  Bore dimensions vary widely in the MN's as well from .308-.312 and some even a bit larger.
