CENSUS NOTICE.

Did not return the census last time it was done. They sent a census taker out. He arrived as I got home. He stood in the street and asked his questions. I did not allow him on the property. I answered the # of people living in my house and their ages. Response to all other questions was " It is not your business. Never any backlash over it.

the other day i was werking over by the barn with a backhoe, saw a car come down my 1/4 mi driveway and stop at the house. didnt think much of it cuz people will usually hear yu and come over where yu are working and talk to yu. this guy messed aroun my house a few min and then took off up the driveway. i put the hoe in 4th gear and took off after him across the hay field.i was pissed, this is a rural area where yu DO NOT mess aroun sumones house and then take off. finally got him stopped almost at the road by screaming at him to stop and bailing off the hoe.he said he was with the census and left a envelope on my door.maybe im a little unruly but if id of had a gun id of shot his tires out when he wunt stop.they need a little more training on these guys.he had no reason to be there, no markings on his rig and was a stranger in a my yard.i get pissed just thinking about it.alll they had to do was put it in the mailbox.

I know some guys that worked 10 years ago. They sat in a bar, got drunk, and made up the results. Yes, they are working the census again.

I didn't get a notice, just the census form, and over a week ago. There is no question in it about income.

I saw a copy of the census and thought I remembered they had income brackets to check, guess I was wrong, thanks. POWDERMAN.

It depends on what form you get as to what questions are asked.  The Census Bureau does statistical modeling of areas (projecting demographics).  Your mileage might vary, forms differ.

I too got the warning that the senseless form is coming.  It seems to me that an email to my Congressman is in order.

Yep, I agree. I checked "Other" and wrote in Slavic.  My wife said "White" until I pointed out that there are 51 flavors of asian listed, and 57 of pacific islanders, and that American Indians get to list the tribe.  She changed it to celto-germanic.  If everyone else gets to be broken down into little groups, then, py-cholly, then so should those of european stock.  Why should a Piedmonter lumped in as being the same as a Bavarian or a Tuscan or a Magyar or Alsatian or Swede?

Still chaps my hide that "white" is considered a race ... its not, its a color. I just read through the Informational Documents on the Census.gov site, which are NOT forms by the way (they repeat that everywhere), and the ethnic options are White, and a whole bunch of other options, with special emphasis on Hispanic and Asian. There's a single question devoted to which type of Hispanic are you, with a breakout of all the south and central american varieties. But everyone that did not come from africa, asia or the americas you have your choice of white.

Subjoe, I agree.  When I get around to filling the d***d thing out I'm putting down Slavic too.  And I think we all should get affirmative action benefits, too--every race, ethnic group, culture, and subgroup that any and all citizens of the US can claim to be a part of.  The only one that really matters is AMERICAN!!
