dick's has handi's
« on: March 07, 2010, 07:10:13 AM »
went to dicks and gander yesterday. both have handis in stock. dicks has camo syn for 299 with scope. gander had same gun without scope for 399. what a joke. my buddy went to buy his first handi but picked up a savage 17hmr with accutriger and thumbhole stock, and bushnell scope on it for 329 from dicks. Hes gonna get his first handi in about 2 wks, he wants 22-250.

I have been saying for a while now that Gander Mountain is way high on guns and reloading supplies. They used to get quite a bit of my business, they just upset me now, so I only buy fishing stuff there any more. My wife just asked me if I was going to Gander this AM and I said no - I would just get upset. If their prices come down to some thing reasonable I still will not buy there, price gouging just does not set well with me.

yea. 100 dollar markup and no scope. I def. wont be buying from them. I just wish dicks sold reloading stuff. gander is the only place close to me that does.

Off Topic a bit, but Gander here in town has bullets priced at almost twice the price of Cabelas. I will chuck rocks before spending 29.99 for a box of 50 ballistic tips for the .270. If I am going to Minneapolis I just make sure I have time to drive 15 minutes out of my way and bring my wish list. Their powder was over 8.00 a pound less at Cabelas too. (H4350) Brent

Keep an eye on dicks those camo stocked combos go on sale occasionally for $249. I got the 308 version on sale for $249 and had a $20 rewards point coupon. $229 + tax out the door.

I found it a lot easier to just give up on Handis and Gander and buy a Savage from my local dealer.

Definitely tell him to hold off. With spring coming I'll bet you will see them on sale in another month or so. Probably about the same time turkey season stuff goes on sale.

Yeah, and now the only Gander's in Minneapolis that carry reloading supplies are Lakeville and Forest Lake.  Don't waste your time with either....I am convinced that whoever does the pricing first hits the crack pipe and then goes and prices the reloading supplies....it is unbelievable...  Go to The Wolf's Den or Cabela's...

Gander is a rip off.   Just a comparison like a box of .204 Hornady is priced @ $24.00 @ Gander and Cheaper than dirt is $16.00.  Sure there is postage but one box of ammo will pay for that.  Seems like everything I pick up at Ganders is 10-20% higher than Dicks and other stores.  I guess if I know better and buy there it is my fault!  :-[

'Voting' with our bucks is effective, but even moreso would be telling management why we arent buying at their store.

I agree on Gander.  Took a trip to closest store (drove from MD to PA) this Winter to buy an upland hunting jacket featured on their website.  Local store had none and they were clueless when I told them what I was looking for.  So, I wandered over to guns/ammo section.  Highest prices on ammo I have ever seen.  True 'rip off' prices on hard to find pistol ammo like .380!

It's funny how different area's are. If I drive a couple of hours to the Gander store in Beaumont Tx. I get good service and prices. If I travel 15 minutes to the local Cabela's I get high prices and poor poor service.
