20 tactical at 365 yds
« on: November 09, 2003, 03:10:08 PM »
this one was shot while sitting on his butt, he came in over a rise and just sat down. i assume he was looking the situation over. had a 5 mph cross wind to deal with, switching sounds did not move him, he would look over his shoulder every once in a while. i can only assume there was another coyote just over the crest of the hill. garbbing a little daylight to his right side and holding even with the junction of the head and nech turned out to be his ticket to chase rabbits in the happy hunting grounds. the 40 gr lucas hp bt hit him dead center of the chest. he went down but did not stay down. he got to his feet did a couple get well whirles and lit out to his right. he piled up about 40 yards from where he was.
shot.
guys i walked 365 yards one way to get this picture for you, i hope you enjoy it.

chris the 20 tac is one sweet cartridge, low recoil yet hits like a lightning bolt. i really like it on coyotes because it thumps them to the ground and keeps them there. it's a bit much on foxes and tends to leave you with pieces. it explodes jacks just like any high speed centerfire will do.
it seems as though ruger is bringing out a simular version in the spring. you hold your breath so we can call you blue boy. they are usually a little slow bringing things out.

this is the only exit i've had on a coyote so far.
here is a picture of the rifle, the gun shoots in the 2's and 3's
