Thanks, Spuddy, that's an interesting article. With the history of the gun being known, I'm kind of surprised they didn't decide to mount the gun on a naval carriage.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

They seem to have had parts of it's old carraige which were rebuilt, the wheels not only have 16 spokes
but also iron hubs so they are probably something taken from a 1880's or 90's freight wagon and
used years back to build a carraige. I guess they don't know the difference between "Forged" and cast......

As to the history of the Boxer and what happened to it's cannon this seems to point to them going to
a Yankee Privateer no mention of Beeman.......

Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!
