:eek: I just started shooting a Pedersoli 1859 Sharps Military, in .54 cal.  I am using a Sharps Bullet mold by Pedersoli # MO0706 (Dixie Gun Works) 70 grains 777 or Pyrodex and I am casting with pure soft lead.  Ok so far?  I shoot EVERYTHING to the right.  No matter what, the shot goes right!  25, 50, 75, or 100 yards, the shot placement is right of my aim point.  I'm beginning to go crazy with this.  Is it that the lead is too soft?  I wonder, for the record I can shoot my Lyman Great Plains with a .50 cal patched round ball into 6 inch groups out to 100 yards and that is often "off-hand"  The Sharps will shoot almost overlapping shots, sometime three right in a row...but all to the right!!!!!...everytime to the right.  Any ideas?  thank you.

Jim Terrio,
         I'm not familiar with the 1859 sharps.  Can't you  drift the sights so that the rifle will shoot to point of aim ?   It sounds like the rifle is grouping good, just needs to be sighted in.

:cry: Thanks oldwoodburner;  Yes I can drift the sights and I have.  Still goes right.  I agree on the groups.  I shot several that frankly amazed me but still....you guessed it, right.  I am beginning to wonder if the softness of the lead I'm using makes for a strange twist of flight or something....crazy, anyway, thanks.  I'm going to cast bullets again tonight and use some wheel weights to 'strengthen' up the lead alloy.  Tomorrow I will start again at 25 yards and shoot groups of five IF my sore sholder (God I hate shooting off a rest) holds up.

The other thing to check is your hold.  It is possible that the stock on this rifle causes you to tilt it just enough to accomplish this.  The proof may be in shooting it off a rest, being very careful of it's orientation.

:D   Thank You that is a thought.  I wondered about the 'hold' as well.  I lined up some whell weights, tonight I'll cast some new rounds and tomorrow I'll tripple check on my hold.  I was shooting off a rest by the "tilt" conceipt is very interesting.  I good very well be moving off as I squeeze off the round.
I'm sure it isn't the gun, my God it will shoot, the issues is me and or my load.  Again thanks.  This is such a great place to read and learn.
