Interesting ballistic formula
« on: March 18, 2010, 01:14:37 AM »
I found this online but I can't remember where.

FPS x .6818 = MPH.

I was amazed to find out just how fast bullets go.

Simply units of conversion:

1.0 hour = 60 seconds * 60 minutes = 3600 seconds
1.0 mile = 5280 feet

 3600 seconds   *    1.0 mile
----------------      ------------
    1.0 hour            5280 feet

FPS = 0.681818...MPH

or the inverse

MPH = 1.46666...FPS
