Which is it, SB1 or SB2?
« on: March 11, 2010, 06:25:05 PM »
Hi Guys,
I'm thinking about getting a Huntsman Muzzle Loader. I read on an earlier post that the early Huntsmans had a SB2 reciever and the later ones had a SB1 reciever.
I'm new to these H&R guns, so forgive me, but how do you tell the difference between the SB1 and SB2?
So far I only have a .22 Sportster. I don't see SP1 stamped on it anywhere. It does however have a "2" on the left side of the inside of the reciever that can be seen when the barrel is removed.

Thanks,
hidehunter

Pre H&R1871 Huntsmans were neither, there was no SB1 or SB2 then, all of the old H&R Inc(out of business in late 1986) frames were cast iron comparable to the SB1. H&R1871 Huntsmans usually come on SB1 frames, but some that were offered as combos with a centerfire rifle barrel were on SB2 frames. The Sportster is neither, it's on an SS1 cast iron rimfire frame which will only work with rimfire barrels. Frames aren't marked as to their type, the FAQs and Help sticky has pics and description to determine what frame it is, or you can call H&R, they can tell what barrels can be fitted to it by the serial number.
