size relations for cannon
« on: March 14, 2010, 04:00:54 AM »
What is the size relation for cannons? I was wondering if there is a formula for barrel/trunnion/ wheel relation? IE barrel is 18 inches long/ 1.5 inch trunnions/ 18 inch wheels? or is it just to scale? 1/4,1/2,2/3?

thanks guys!

aaaaaaaa  looking for the easy life   you can plough through all the old books........research every website........buy every drawing on the market...........and then a new style / museum exhibit / photo will appear.........usually just after you've decided to go with one.    find something you like the look of...chase as much info as you got time for............and most important........build it.  have a go at it.

John Muller in his Treatise of Artillery 1780 describes just this.  Get a copy where ever you can.

Try http://www.armscollecting.com/General_Titles.htm  first.

Then look at www.abebooks.com .  There are several there right now

Then try Ebay.  There is a couple there right now.
