Kansas does a fantastic job of managing their deer for quality.  I love chasing big bucks.  We also have great waterfowl, upland second only to SD, and I'm a one day drive from Canada, Texas, the Rockies, or anywhere inbetween.  I don't know much about fishing in Kansas.

Montana, I usually can get away from people and the sound of motors by just walking a little bit.

Wisconsin is great for fishing since it is nearly surrounded by water. The west coast is Mississippi, the north coast is Lake Superior and the east coast is Lake Michigan.

Upstate New York has some great hunting and fishing - one good part is that during big game season it is far too cold and inhospitable for the tree huggers and granola heads to be out and about trying to save all the deer and interupt hunting, but the best part is that it is too cold and inhospitable for the politicians to even think about geting out of their offices.

I know it will make Graybeard happy for me to admit that even though she came on strong as a friend of sportsmen and gun owners, even kirsten gillibrand won't move her big ol butt off her neu yawk city senatorial chair during huntin' season when it's bitter and frigid out of doors, and it turns out she is really no friend of the sportsman.

However, I am happier admitting there may be another blonde in the works in upstate ny - a nice gal who seems to be very supportive for sportsmen and she is vying for the seat just vacated by the gay buffalo politician who has been charged with sexual harrassment by another guy and who is stepping down.  I'm hoping this one is far enough away from nyc so as not to fall prey to the sob stories from the liberal commies, socialistas and facists who inhabit the place and who lack the necessary parenting skills to keep their kids off the streets at 2 in the morning when the gang bangers are out shootin' up the big apple.  I suppose I could add this to my wish list too................

With historic and fascinating stories as The Barefoot Mailman [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barefoot_mailman ], Henry Flagler's FL East Coast Railroad [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_East_Coast_Railway ], and Ernest Hemingway's life in the Keys, it is difficult to not say that fishing is the King of Sports in Florida...well maybe a close second to Double Breasted Bed Wallower watching.

Looking under every rock however you will find us "diehards" that know where to go for hunting opportunities.  Feral hogs offer 24/7/365 opportunities on private land.  Where else can you legally go Alligator hunting in America (possibly Louisiana)?  Florida deer taste just like mid-lands deer and are no easier to hunt.

Turkeys, doves, and ducks fill in on winter and spring days.  Squirrel, coon, and bobcat abound.  Too bad for us, the coyote is on the rise.

Florida, there lost on non-natives to hunt and varmints if you like that. The salt and fresh water fishing at least in pineall country has gone down but there some cool stuff out there. this state has change a lot in the past 10 years.

Not much to mention here but "the heat, bugs, snakes, and gators!" unless you consider the ducks, geese, deer, Axis deer, hogs, dove, quail, rabbits, squirrel, and frogs!

Not to mention everything from Swamps to Mountains, Salty Gulf of Mexico to the fresh water of the Red river, the hill country, the marshes, the plains and the east Texas piney woods.

Some of the most beautiful fresh water lakes brimming with Bass, White perch(crappie)(sac au lait), Stripped bass, Brim, and catfish.

The Gulf offers Red drum, Speckel trout, flounder, Tuna, King Mackeral, Ling(lemon fish), snapper and a bunch I cant remember right now!

Did I mention the "heat, bugs, snakes, and gators"

Forgive me if you think I'm bragging, I was trying to just cover the basics.  8)

I have lived and hunted in Texas, Louisiana, Idaho, Michigan, Colorado, North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming. The best of all of these is Wyoming, hands down. Least populated state in the union (except during hunting season) but even then, it isn't difficult to get away from EVERYONE. there have been MANY instances where I have spent a week at a time in the mountains and not seen another human being. Course it helps being a hermit at heart.
Perception is everything. For instance, a crowded elevator smells different to a midget.
