Finally Got to SHOOT IT W/PICS
« on: March 16, 2010, 11:52:20 AM »
Finally got my Bullberry 14 inch 30-30 AI set up and ready to shoot. It sports a bull barrel I got from Varmintchaser (Good Guy to Deal With) that I sent back to Bullberry to have bead blasted, re-letterd, and matte finished. Also had the frame bead blasted and matte finished while I was at it. It is topped with a matte finished Burris 3-12 scope and wears a set of Pachy grip and forend. If you notice it is sitting on my new (well just finished today) shooting bench. Managed to shoot one ragged hole at fifty yards shooting factory Winchester 170 grains. Kept them inside an inch at 100 yards. Can't wait to get to develop some loads for it with the fireformed brass. If you have a pet load in the 120 to 150 grain bullet weights please post them or PM them to me. I am planning on using IMR4320. Any suggestions on other powders or bullet weights?

Thanks for reading

Very Nice, like how the new finish matches the original receiver.

That is not the original finish on the reciever. I had it bead blasted and matte finished by Bullberry at the same time I had the barrel done.

I shot my 14" SS MGM 30-30AI barrel this past Saturday for the first time. I made fire form loads with some IMR 4320 that I have had for ages just to use it up 30.5 grs. I used some pulled 147 military FMJ bullets and new WW cases with Wolf LR primer. If I and my buddy did our part it would put 5 under 1" at 100 yards. From all the information that I can find IMR 4198 seems to be THE powder and 125 Nosler Ballistic Tips seems to be THE deer size game bullet. Work up to 34.0 grs IMR 4198 with the 125 gr bullet and you should get around 2650+ fps and amazing accuracy. At least that is what I have been told my many people. Another suggested load is to work up to 36.0 grs IMR 3031 with 150 gr bullets.
