My new shortie.
« on: March 04, 2010, 08:09:33 AM »
Thanks to Spanky I am the proud owner of a beautiful, new to me ,12ga shortie. Spanky sent me the barrel, which I shortened another 1 1/2 inches to 19.The forend is from a fiberforce stock that my son had on his 45/410. I can't wait to take it out and run a few slugs thru it. If you look , in the first pic you will see the piece I took off. I'm sure it wasn't necessary to shorten it, but I wanted it to be a built by me shortie. I'm sure you guys understand

I bet you go back to the 20 gauge after you pull that trigger with slugs.

Great looking Shorty though.

Looks great. There is just something special about chopping of that barrel yourself that can't realy be explained in words.

It will be a while before I get to fire it. There is about 4ft of snow on the range. But I promise I will report it when I do.

You did a great job on that gun.  It's the only time I've seen an ATI forend that I liked.

Jeff

I like the looks of that forend too. I bet a survivor stock and that forend would make a good setup.

When you do get a chance to shoot it be sure to keep your hand clear of the front sling stud.

I am not to familiar with the ATI forend, was this forend that was on your son`s 45/410 ordered specifically for the 45/410 or did some adjustments have to be done to make it fit?
Also what type of recoil pad do you have on your shortie? I have a 10 gauge Pardner that I was thinking
of adding a good recoil pad and possibly a new forend.

The foreend is from one of those tactical looking stock sets with the telescoping butt stocks made for the NEF by Shot Force.I think he paid about $60 for the set.The recoil pad is from a AL perfix model 158  so it's of 1973 vintage.
