I just picked up a Remington 760 in 222 rem. Just in time for Ohio woodchucks.
This is meant to be a fun gun, not a gun I will shoot often. I bought it because it is a gun I don't see in dealer's racks often

You are going to find the 222 a great round and nice find. You might find yourself shooting it more than you figured May I suggest using Hornady 50 grain Super Explosive bullets? They were designed for the 222 in mind and they generally shoot great, and literally explode in a Woodchuck at 222 velocities.

  HT, my .222 is one of my very favorite chuck calibers for the east coast, and for prairie dogs out west...My old custom .222 has over 7000 rds. thru it and still drives tacks....When I head out to hunt eastern chucks, I always take three rifles...m .22 Hornet, my .222, and my 22-250....For most of the shooting in that area, the .222 is perfect...if mine were a bit lighter it would also replace the hornet....I cannot think of hunting chucks and NOT having a .222...It is a wonder little round.....I would think for your area it would be perfect unless you have a bunch of 275 yard plus shooting...the longest I ever took with my .222 was a bit over 250 yards...It is lovely for those shots.....ENJOY

Great find. The 222 is great caliber and in a Rem 760. WOW. These were only made a couple of years in the late 50's. Always hope to find one at a gun show or private sale but no luck. Enjoy it.

I have been a fan of Hornady SX bullets for a long time. They are plenty accurate enough for woodchucks within the 222 range.
My first 222 was a Mini-14 which I have fired less than 300 rounds and still have.
