Local shop has a new 50 on sale for $199.00. What do you guy think/ Any experience with this new caliber?

Ammo for the 500 is expensive and they aren't known to be the most accurate thing out there.
Some people have had trouble with them shooting loose too.
Words of wisdom..... get a 45-70 and save yourself alot of headaches.

sounds like a decent price to me, ask them to throw in a box of ammo....<><....
P.S. - I agree with Spanky. I have them both and prefer the 45-70.....but the .500 is a real thumper....
