.357 Maximum as a factory standard.
« on: March 24, 2010, 04:45:11 AM »
Ya know, I don't understand it.  They made .357 Maximum barrels years ago and discontinued them.  It seems to me Remington, since they're still putting out brass regularly, could manufacture the ammo again.
Yeah, the maxis blistered the top straps on revolvers, but works fine in single shot carbines.  All Remington has to do is run a reamer a little deeper in the Handi's and can market a 3 in 1 rifle.  They can make the ammo to feed them at no additional setup cost.  Given the popularity of this cartridge, I can't see why they're not exploiting it to their advantage in the Handis and Leverguns.

Petemi, I was going to make that suggestion to them at the NWTF convention this winter but they weren't interested enough to keep their booth manned and I never got the chance. The 357 Max is the perfect cartridge for our Indiana deer season.

I can't understand much of it either.  It kinda makes it look like they're just going to absorb all the Handis out there and manufacture their own single shot.  If they were smart enough, and took a minute, they might find the Handis have quite a following, and would market swing around that.

Personally, big green has me worn out.  They don't seem to have a clue as to what's best for us or them.  My best advice is gobble up whatever you find handi-wise, and stash it for later.
