One wildlife officer and five members of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife were indicted this week for suspicion of tampering with records and obstructing justice.

According to information obtained through Brown County Court of Common Pleas, Alan Wright, the ODNR Division of Wildlife Officer for Brown County, was indicted for two counts of tampering with records and one count of falsification for allegedly altering ODNR records in Brown County between Nov. 5, 2006 and Dec. 30, 2006.

Wright is currently facing a third degree felony for each tampering with records charge, and a first degree misdemeanor for the falsification charge.

Additionally, David Graham, Division of Wildlife Chief; James Lehman, Law Enforcement Administrator for the Division of Wildlife; Michele Ward-Tackett, Division of Wildlife Human Resources Administrator; Todd Haines, ODNR Division of Wildlife District 5 Manager; and Randy Miller, Assistant Chief of ODNR Division of Wildlife were indicted by the Grand Jury as well, each for one count of obstructing justice and one count of complicity to obstructing justice. Between April 22, 2008 and Sept. 18, 2008, they allegedly hindered the discovery, apprehension, prosecution or conviction of Allan Wright for a crime or to assist Wright to benefit from the commission of a crime by obstructing any person by means of force, intimidation or deception.

The complicity charge states that each of the indicted officers had aided or abetted each other in committing their obstructing justice charge. Both charges are fifth degree felonies.

Additional information on the case will be released as it becomes available.

Wait til you run into one of them while panning or dredging for our (non-existant) gold!  I got charge with snagging a wall-eye a few years back and it was cheaper to pay fine than fight it, even knowing they did not have ANY evidence!  Since that day, I've had a rahter low opinion of the agency.  One was supposed to get back with me about dredging on private property once( he was sure I was polluting the stream), never heard any more about it!
