love my new old huntsman

i bought a 45 cal huntsman a few weeks ago, it's in pretty tough shape but i am working on it
this huntsman has a cap style ignition, i have heard rumors about breech plug trouble. it doesn't look like my breech plug is removable. should i be concerned about shooting it? i just love the looks of this gun--simple and functional

Does it have a small hole on each side of the cap nipple? Does it have just the nipple? If it is just the nipple it is a push out plug if it has the 2 holes it screws out. I have never seen one with a plug that was not removable. Kurt

NO HOLES--  HOW DO I PUSH OUT THE BREECH PLUG?

Just put a solid (one piece preferably) cleaning rod down the bore from the muzzle and push or tap it out. I suggest something like a range rod that is a nice full diameter fit in the barrel, not a thin .22 caliber cleaning rod....<><...:)

I had to soak the breech end in Kroil for a day or so (you can use any penetrating oil) before mine would come out. I set my barrel in a cup 1/2 filled and poured some down the barrel and just let it sit....It did take a good whack before it broke free. I used a wooden dowel on a hard surface and turned the barrel muzzle end down over the dowel and just slide the barrel down hard onto the dowel a few times and it finally popped out. Good Luck!
