Anybody bought a custom barrel from Ed Arthur Brown Co. lately?  If so, what do you think about the work they do?  I'm thinking about a 6.5x3030.  Is this cartridge based on the 7-30 waters?  thx

I have a E.A.Brown 14" Custom Shop barrel.  From what I understand they get the Custom Shop barrel sent to them from the T/C Custom Shop and them do any custom work you request from them( I had a B-Square mount and three rings installed on my barrel).  Now they also make their own T/C and Encore barrels in house.  I am quite confident they would do a good job.  They also make their own single shot pistol and single shot rifle..Model 97 if I remember correctly.
I think the 6.5/30-30 would be a good round sort of like the 6.5 JDJ#2.  Yes, It would sorta of a 6.5 Waters..since Mr.Waters based his 7mm round on the 30-30..don't know about the shoulder placement...they also have a 6.5 and 6 BRM that uses 30-30 brass.  Check them out at www.EABCO.com

EA Brown has two levels of custom T/C barrels available.  As spinafish mentioned they have barrels that are from Fox Ridge and they have the truly custom barrels that are built on Shilen blanks.  You will notice a price difference.  Generally their premium barrels are the best choice.

I own a E.A. Brown custom barrel.  It is a stainless barrel.  The caliber is 6.5 US, it is a necked down and trimmed 30-30 case.  I have a 2-6x Elite 3200.  It is the most accurate barrel I own.

With a nosler 120 gr. Balastic tip I get the same speed as the famous 6.5 JDJ.  You can get 7 us brass and neck it down.  One more thing it is also the best looking barrel I have seen.

Now that neither of them are advertisers on this site any longer I can say that the folks at VVCG have assured me they are the folks making all of the EAB custom barrels. Eben told me he did. Someone is lying. Who? I have no clue.

All I'll say is look at the calibers that each company offers. Does it seem odd that Eben would chamber his barrels in the VVC line of cartridges? Makes one wonder.
