I had my local gun club officer who holds our FFL call Dan Wesson before Christmas for a price on the new Patriot Expert 1911 45ACP. The price that was given to my FFL holder was about $630.00. I found the same gun in a local shop and they had a ticket on it for $895.00. Anyway my club officer called Melissa back at Dan Wesson today (1-5-04) and she told him there was a price increase. He reminded her that she told him a set price and that he called her 3 or 4 times to place the order and she never returned his call. (They could have been closed over the holiday season). Anyway she assured him that the price she originally quoted would hold. About a half-hour later she called him back and said that the price was not good and that the price would be somewhere around $875.00.
Anyway I told him not to order it as I won't do business with people who quote one price, tell you that they had a price increase but they will honor the first price then change the price again. Won't even consider buying another Dan Wesson. Ordered a Springfield today and got the same features for about what the original Dan Wesson price was supposed to be. Be aware that if you call and don't get anyone at DW that they don't appear to check their voice mail on a daily basis as my guy left them several messages. Sounds like they still need to get their customer service together. If there is this much hassel with trying to BUY I don't want to think what getting a warranty repair would be like. JMHO for whatever it's worth!!!!
