It's my day of rememberence again, another year has passed
« on: March 30, 2010, 07:40:01 AM »
Once again on this day I ask you, my friends, to take a moment and offer up a prayer for our military, here and abroad.  May those in harm's way return to us safe and sound.

There is a national effort to provide this day as one for remembering "Welcome Home Vietnam Veteran's Day".

Having served during that era, I appreciate each and every one of you, my Brothers and Sisters, that served and survived.  I further pray that the families that lost loved ones are comforted in the peace that was bought for such a high price.  We will never forget and in lasting honor and tribute we kneel and bow to their sacrifice.

My son now serves and his reenlistment is immenient.  He is hoping to reloacte from four tours in Iraq to the more suitable quiet of Dahlonega, GA.

Each of us has our own peace to enjoy as the sacrifice continues.  Keep those that are deployed or deploying in your hearts and minds.  The world is, at times, an ugly and difficult place made easier for the home fires by those willing to serve.

God bless you all!

Has it been a year Whew, time flys. Well Richard I was "speaking" of you yesterday. You being one of my heroes, I mentuioned your name in Dee's thread about the chopper pilot that the media ignored. That guy, You and all of those that are in harms way or have been are owed a debt of gratitude by the rest of us!  I try to give a call to God Everyday for the armed forces, some that have come to my attention, and those in my world that need it.

Long ago and far away I followed in bootprints left by my father, father in law and the uncles on both sides of my family.  While I made a living with a green suit and a rifle these vets held the nation in my absence.  Now all but two are dead.  Of those two, one rode a yard mine sweeper on the landings of six islands in the Pacific, the other had a vacation at frozen Chosin.  The active defenders we have today are all volunteers and deserve everything we can do to assist them.  It is my turn now to try and make sure the nation they serve is still here when they come back.  I think that is what VET really means.  Vet to me does not mean sit back and take it easy, it means I am still in service even as an oldusetowasit.
