03-A3 I got in a trade.

I traded my 45 Colt Puma 24' barrel for this 03-A3 at the last gun show.

Those are usually good rifles. I bet it came from the CMP. Does it have a 2 groove or 4 groove barrel? Many Remingtons had 2 groove barrels. They all shoot good. I got a Smith Corona from the CMP a few years back. I could kick myself now or ever letting the first high power rifle I ever had get away. I was 13 and worked all summer mowing yards to make up the $40.00 to purchase the "Un-issued" Remington 1903A3. That thing would beat me to death but I really learned how to shoot long range with that rifle. I got tired of dragging that long Tom though the woods and up and down the mountains in TN and sold it for $45.00 about 4 years later and bought a Marlin 30-30. I sure wish I had that rifle back now.

It is a two grove and Remington said it was manufactured in January 1944 and that the barrel date would indicate the original. It appears to have never been fired since it was built or rebuilt what ever the case. The man I traded with said he got it from the DMC which is the predecessor to the CMP. The barrel has no wear at all, finally going to get to the range tomorrow if it doesn't snow. The weather forecast is for almost 70 for Thursday so I hope I am OK.

I've always wanted an 03 but haven't run into a deal yet.

That puma must have been heavy to carry in the woods with a 24 foot barrel.

Here is what I did after I got the sights set at 50yds only as the wind was blowing at 30+mph and lane is protected for 50 yds from the wind then it gets tricky . This was the last 15 rounds.
