Brake no real bad idea. Recoil is just too mild to put up with the loud muzzle blast a brake gives. Mine was a 14" and I could "almost" get 2600 fps with 100s but if I pushed it all the way there I felt pressures a bit too high as it seemed extaction was always very sticky at 2600 fps but not at all so at 2550 fps.

I don't do max range discussions as I think they have no merit. Someone is always gonna say they've shot a deer at 500-600 yards with one so it must be good for that. I'd not feel bad using it at 250-300 but personally would be hesitant to push beyond that but even that isn't set in stone just a guideline for me personally.

Run your new .225 Winchester case into the sizer die and out pops a .257 JDJ case about as simple as it gets.

This is NOT the proper forum to be asking to buy one. Take it to the classifieds for that.

The 257 JDJ is a great round. I have a 14 inch SSK Stainless Contender barrel and I recently bought another 257 JDJ 17 inch blued Encore made by SSK.

Like GB stated, run a 225 Winchester case into the 257JDJ sizer die. The fire form loads are scary accurate. This picture shows a case before/after firing.

I have not chronographed my 100 grain Nosler BT load but last week I loaded up some Sierra & Hornday 75 gr HP's. They were running 2950 and I'm 1.5 grains off published loads.

All barrels are potentially different. However, I run a Nosler 100 gr. BT or Hornady SP @ 2600-2620 fps from my 14" Contender barrel with no signs of high pressure problems. I've not shot anything beyond 250 yds. with mine, but it should be good on deer sized animals a bit beyond that, if you can shoot well enough.

Looks like a neat round! I don't know anything about it, but the I can tell you the distance bit. I will say that no matter what caliber you need to have shot the gun at that distance know its trajectory and know about the ft/lbs left in it. Ballistics are a great thing, but even the best ballistics can't replace shot placement. I will say this and let the guys who know about the cartridge finish the discussion: I don't care if you shoot a deer with the round at 800 yards, but IMO any hunter needs to have the decency and respect to make sure the first shot seals the deal and not just say well I will try it and wound him up.
