10x Scope
« on: March 30, 2010, 04:07:58 PM »
Here is what Im looking at. The choice is between these two scopes only. Looking to see if anyone has either scope and how it fits on a handi. What rings will get the scope as low as can be without hammer mods? I am thinking the Bushnell due to more reviews that I have been able to find but that is also why I am asking. The Bushnell is on average $100 cheaper.

I've got two of the Elite 3200 10x40 mildots on H&Rs, one is on one of my 45-70 BCs as I wanted to do some 300yd shooting with it, never happened before the range closed the 300yd targets, so I guess it never will now.  :-\ The other is on my 221 Fireball Handi which hasn't been to the range yet. They're great scopes and Handi friendly since they don't have a power ring to interfere with the hammer.  They're specially good when you can buy them on sale, I paid $165 for the first one, got the second one one sale for $95 and free shipping, along with a 3-9x40 Leupold VX-1 for $125, which I think was a mistake on both of them because the sale didn't last long, like it was an error on the website, I fully expected an email stating they couldn't sell them for that, but a week later I got them in the mail.  ;D

Target below was shot with the 45-70 BC/10x40 Bushnell, 350gr Hornady at 2027fps.

Yes, turrets are resettable, scope is mounted in medium Burris Signature Zees. Optics Planet had them on sale, they're no bargain there now, $220!  ::)

I have one that I first mounted on my Weatherby.  Liked it well, just not enough scope for shooting 1000 yards.  Put it on an Ultra .223 for a while and it worked great.  Changed it out for a scope with dial able turrets with BDC.  Seems like I have it on a 22-250 right now.  It's a nice scope, and someday it will find a home.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Thanks for the input. I had looked on the Bushnell site for the resetable turret info, I just didnt read close enough and read it the second time. Looks like it fits just about right.

Yep, I remember. My first serious varmint scope was a Japanese Busnell Banner 10X with BDC turrets, I still have it. I do own a 3200 10X. I consider it one of my better scopes. I sits on a Remington 700 in 221 Fireball. I have shot some awesome 100 yard groups with it. It works great out to the 250/300 yard range, which is the limit with my 221 Fireball. It will probably work for longer distances, if the target is not too small. Most sniper rifles do not go over 10X and they shoot man sized targets, way out there. With the old Banner, I regularly shot small black birds out to 250 yards when it sat on my 222 Remington. As Tim has indicated, it will work out well on a Handi Rifle. I have that old Banner 10X setting on my 223 Ultra ;)

I have used the Bushnell 10X on my AR and on a CZ in 22mag.
It is a great little scope, I picked it up for $100 used.
