small ring '98 mauser?

Small ring 98 mausers?  Turkey had a 98 mauser made with small ring sized barrel threads.  Also, the M1936 7mm Mexican Mauser (made in Mexico) has a small ring sized receiver, but the features of a 98 mauser large ring such as the third lug on the bolt.  This particular Mexican action was highly prized for building custom rifles.  My rifle built on a 1936 Mexican action and an original M1936 Mexican mauser.

i guess what i am asking is, is there a '98 mauser action made that is not a large ring? i know that Turkey had a large ring with small ring threads. this action is the same length as any 98 mauser but is smooth instead of having a "large ring". thanks

Ok I see now, as mentioned before, the M1936 Mexican mauser Is a small ring mauser with the seftey features of the 98 mauser.

ok, thank you guys. my dad bought a nice stock off the auction site and it was labeled for a 98 mauser. but it was not the one he needed. anyone interested in one?

The 98a and G33/40 are other examples of small ring 98 actions. The 98a was unusual in that the bbl was tapered, not stepped, for weight reduction. "Kar 98" is on the side wall, not to be confused with the later 98K. So if the barrel channel is not stepped, and there is clearance cut under where the bent bolt handle would rest, it may be for the 98a. I had a 1912 Danzig in that configuration.

you can also measure the trigger guard screw holes, from the center of the holes measure.a small ring mauser measures: 7 5/8" or 7.625

a large ring mauser measures: 7 7/8" or 7.830

 large ring mausers:98,48,vz24,vz22,turks &comm mausers

 small ring mausers:93,94,95,96 & mexican

 m48:large ring,But with an intermediate action.
 
 turks:most are threaded for the small ring barrel but have the standard length
(long) action of a large ring mauser 98.  FROM:MAUSER CENTRAL

   Wow.  You are a wealth of info!

   What about the 98s made by FN? I think I read somewhere that those actions are very slightly shorter than standard 98s, with the action holes slightly closer together?

   Also, not relevant here, but I think that the commercial actions, made by Zastava, being the Mark X and progeny, are also slightly shorter, with holes slightly closer together.

You guys are correct. The german 98k and the turk '38 bolts will swap out.  While the yugo m48 is a shorter length bolt.  I'm not sure if i'm correct or not but I believe there are 3 different mauser bolt lengths. I think there is another longer length bolt besides the 98k.
