Not safely, even on an SB2 frame it wouldn't be wise, the Casull has a SAAMI pressure of 65kpsi, the 1137 mild steel 45/410 barrel is made for shotgun/colt pressures of 14kpsi max.

You have been nominated for the "Darwin" trophy. If you shoot the 454 in  your 45Colt/410 please first post the name and address of your "Next of Kin" so that we may forward your award.

I've asked that question before myself, and got the same answer.

Now I'm wondering if I can shoot .410 shells in my .460 Smith, they fit.  But that is a question I will take up elsewhere.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

All accounts I've ever read (never have tried it myself) are that rifled bores do awful things to the pattern and the shot does awful things to the rifling. I would think that a good shot cup should minimize both, but I dont know......as usual, you're on your own.

Thanks for the info.
I am looking at getting a new barrel for my 308 Survivor.  My son wants to go deer hunting this year on the youth hunt. He does not like shooting the 308 because of the recoil, and the Ultra Varmint I have is 223.  I have shot deer with a 223 and Nosler Partitions, but I want a little more bullet size.  The max range will be kept under 100 yards.  I would like to get a caliber that I already reload. I am having a hard time deciding between 357 mag, 44 mag, or 45LC since I have pistols in those calibers, and they would all make fun plinkers. I have read the posts on the 357 Mag to 357 Max and was just wondering if anybody had shot the 454 in 45LC.  I had looked at SAAMI pressures of the 454 load that I am shooting now which is 52,600 CUP and  the pressure of the 308 is 59,800 CUP.  H&R also offers a 500 Smith and Wesson barrel that handles the 51,000+ CUP, unless they use different materials for barrels pressure should not be a problem.  How is the 45LC/410 accuracy and velocity with the excessive bullet jump.

Centerfire rifle barrels are 4140 alloy, and as I said before, the 45/410 barrel is 1137 mild steel, same as shotgun and rimfire barrels. H&R does make a 45LC rifle barrel also, that would be a good choice to make your 454 with, shooting the 454 in the 45/410 barrel would be foolish even on an SB2 frame. Let's get in the 21st century here, SAAMI MAPs(maximum average pressure) are in PSI, the 45Colt is 14kpsi, the 308W is 62kpsi, 454/460 are 65kpsi and the 500S&W is 60kpsi. Another issue with the 45/410 is it only comes with a bead front sight, drilling and tapping for a scope rail would make the chamber a perfect place for rupture at 65kpsi in the weak 1137 steel.

Until you come across a good deal, why dont you load the .308 down to 30-30 specs?
FWIW, look in the FAQs at the foot pounds of recoil in the different calibers before buying a gun for your son.
