Forgive me Mr. Browning, I have sinned...
« on: March 11, 2010, 04:45:22 PM »
I'm probably one of the last surviving dinosaurs to finally buy a Glack, Gluck, err-Glock.  Got such a good deal on a model 19 I couldn't say no.  Probably should have asked the seller just WHY he was in such a hurry to get rid of it but the thought did not occur to me at that time.  I do hope it shoots one heck of a lot better than it looks, I've seen bastard stepchildren that looked better.  Seriously, it does become difficult to not try one as they seem well thought of as to toughness and reliability.  I figger to carry this one along in places I don't with to take the chance of damaging one of my 1911's or Brownings.  Who knows, I may end up actually liking the darn thing....and perhaps, hopefully the best firearms designer of all time, Mister John Moses Browning isn't turning too much in his grave.   ;D

OK, what was the deal, and where are the pics?

It all depends on what you need it for.  A glock will never have the trigger you can get with a 1911.  I really like them, and enjoy shooting them a lot.  For personal protection and home defense I have a Glock 19.  Totally reliable and instictive to use.  Paper punching at 25 yards the 1911 wins hands down.  Double taps at 6 yards I will take the Glock.

I got my 1st glock a little over a maybe 6 weeks ago, and I sold it Mon. dont get me wrong I did enjoy shooting it and really enjoyed carrying it, for the firepower vs. weight it is one heck of a carry weapon, but alas I am back to carrying a Sig. and feel at home.  Enjoy you glock and let us know how it performs for you.  BTW the one I sold wasm a g23  Jim

I too shoot a glock 23 and recently sold my Colt Gold Cup (OMG I do regret that).  Since I am w/o a 45 I devoted more time to my Glock and started doing a few modifications.

I installed 1 3.5 lb connector which was an improvement but not great. (Don't worry everyone this is not a carry piece)..... then I ordered a few more items for the Glock.

Extended slide release
Extended Mag release
Grip plug

Since I had the Glock "detailed" stripped I went to work.  I have been doing trigger jobs for about 30+ years.  I read all the propaganda on the internet about the .25 cent trigger job and decided to give it a whirl.

Armed with a dremal, a polishing wheel and years of shooting I went to work.

My results are WOW!  I have a beautiful smooth trigger that I am proud of.  I spoke with a few trained Glock gunsmiths and even a former Team Glock shooter who told me that if I want an even lighter trigger install a 4 lb striker spring.  I doubt I will go that far.

So, my results..... The extended slide release is absolutely worth it just for the comfort.  The extended magazine release sticks out far and is also a pleasure to use (but it could interfere with concealed carry) and the 3.5 lb connector works great.

This work/modification will become "standard" on all my future glocks.

Yeah...... I am on the hunt for another 1911 45 acp to build  ;)

I own a 24C and 36, and I love the pistols.  Put in 3.5lbs connector also. I also own 4 1911's, and love them also. ;D

Bob,
I use the reduced power striker springs in addition to the .25 trigger job, along with the 3.5 connector and over travel stop on my game Glocks. I'd stay away from the reduced power striker spirngs for a business gun. There's the possibility of light strikes with the lighter springs. Mine work fine with Winchester and Wolf primers. I don't recall having a single misfire in 15k+ rds thru those Glocks. The over travel stop and the reduced power striker spring make all the difference in a Glock trigger!

I own a 21c, and a 20, Love them both. Put a Lone wolf Barrel in the 20, as I wanted to shoot cast out of it. Does a god job, have had no probs.
