I am thinking of getting a ML pistol barrel for my G2, I know Gonic arms used to make one, does anyone else? I want to go with a 12" barrel does anyone know if that is long enough to get complete powder burn. Thanks

The old original flintlock pistols had shorter barrels. A 12" barrel should work. I shoot a reproduction cap and ball revolver with a 7" barrel.

I shoot a 12" TC .50cal Scout with up to 100gr(Volume) of fffg. I'm sure that I'm not burning 100%, but I get plenty of Whamo. I would, at least, compare it to my 45-70 Contender. TC made a 15" 209 X.50 for the Encore, but never made anything similiar for the Contender. I handled and shot A Gonic 45 Contender barrel which I think(it's been a while), was 14".

My first ML hunting pistol was a Traditions Trapper refitted with a 12", 1 in 20 twist 45 cal. Green Mtn. barrel.
I next had a 16" gonic 45. I used 90 gr. pyrodex and 385 gr. Buffalo bullets for 1300 fps. Sabots were not popular back then so I had to use the big bullet. You should have seen what it did to the 200 meter silhouettes.
I now have a 50 cal SST encore barrel cut to 18". Loaded with 95 gr. BH-209 and 200 gr. shockwaves it does 2000 fps.
Several deer have fallen to my ML pistols. I never felt undergunned.
