S&W 625-5 45LC with blue cylinder??

I am looking at a S&W 625-5 45LC, 5" full lug bbl, that has a blue cylinder.  Thinking about buying  it but wondering what it is, looks unique. Does anyone know?  Ever seen one?  Any info would be great.  Wallacem in Ga

probably something someone put together as ive never seen smith make one like that. Id be nervous that it was dont to replace a cylinder that someone blew up.

In looking closer at it, it is a 625-5. It says "45 Colt" on the left side of the full lug, the bbl looks like it matches the finish on the frame, does not look like it was changed.  I wonder if S&W could tell me anything about the serial number?

There was a period of time when S&W was putting out all sorts of non cataloged guns many of which the majority of us might never have heard of. It could easily be one of those. The only way to be 100% certain is to pay Roy Jinks for a factory letter.

Update, I called S&W today, and gave him the serial number, he gave me the product code, and told me it was built 1/95, and it was one of 52 like it, and said the build sheet said it did have a blue cylinder.  I was shocked, I did not know they could or would look up info on the spot like that.

If S&W said that it's one of only 52 built, collectors would drool over it with the proper paperwork.  I'd try to get a letter from Smith & Wesson to go with the revolver.  That's a great find!

Actually, there are a few. S&W collectors refer to them as "Pinto models".
