I'm in the southwestern part of the state, and there is still over a foot sitting on the bench on my deck. It is melting though. Today has been the first day since the snow came that I've seen deer in the field. There is a bare spot where a spring leaches out and the snow is melted. There were two deer eating the grass. I figure with the warmer temps they are calling for the next few days. The deer will be feeding in the fields in the middle of the day soon. They are probably tired of eating tree limbs, and pine. They are calling for 50 degrees next Monday, and if that is mixed with sunshine the snow will melt pretty fast. Of coarse I don't believe the weather guys to much, they are wrong to many times.
The big snow we had in February, the weather guys only missed the snow fall in this area by 18 inches.
Speaking of deer and the game commission. Did anyone read the article about Pa deer hunting in this months issue of American Hunter? The writer of the article had been a long time hunter in Pa., and he talks about the Game commission and their antler restrictions. He mentions the vanishing license sales and how deer hunting just isn't as fun anymore in Pa. Its a good article, and I agree with what he has to say, as I'm sure many others do.
