New tires cracking.
« on: April 07, 2010, 09:15:17 AM »
Right off I'll tell ya I live 30 miles above the arctic circle, this fall I had some new Mud/Snow tires mounted on a couple work rigs noticed when checking the pressures they already are weatherchecking the side walls.

I noticed the new ATV tires are the same way, dosent seem to be brand specific, whats up wth that?

Intertubes the same thing, the old tubes hold up really well still running some equipment that has 20yro tubes, new ones seem to chaffe and leak bad.

I really don't know about tires but in our industry many things that were used ( chemicals) can no longer be used in a cost effective way. May be true with tires .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

There were some recent tire recalls or safety notices. Check with your tire supplier.

Check your date codes , tires are considered good for 8 years from that date no matter when they were put into service .

If I did get in one and run high speed for the south I wouldent get far, the land of OTZ is not connected by a road system.

Thats whay Im here seems the cold has a way of keeping the faint of heart thinned out of here, where else can I walk of town and hunt rabbits and ptarmagen carrying a shotgun out in the open and not have the cops on me like ravins on a school dumpster.
Good ice fishing a 3/4 mile from my home for white fish in the spring or ice fish for other inlet type fish like, skulpin, tom cod, smelt, herring, up the coast for Dolly varden and grayling, pike, sheefish, burbot on the Kobuk, Noatak, Selawik rivers & deltas.
Moose, The northwest arctic caribou heard (300K strong), muskox, Dhal sheep, Wolf, Lynx, Wolverne, Beaver, muskrats, river otter, ermine.
I can get on a snowmobile with a full tank of gas and pick any heading on the compass and ride in that direction and never hit civilization (have to look for it) no power lines, no fences, nothing but barren tundra and boreal forest, frozzen rivers and marshes.
Have the lava beds down by Deering, couple Hot springs one to the east (Selawik) and one the seward penninsula (Surpintine)
The only bad scienic photo Ive ever was when the cammera went off in the bag, otherwise ther's never a dull picture, even todays sunrise was neat with a Sundog Halo round it.

Cold Wx shooting, took the Kiddos out last weekend (+17F) the coldest they been enjoying shooting is -26F
seem's most semi auto 22's dont function all thet great, best sub zero performer was the Remington Nylon 66 and the Marlin model 60.
Youd think the Ruger 10/22 would auger through them but the Marlin has the edge.
