Adding sling studs to wood stock
«

I was thinking of adding sling studs to my pardner with wood stock and forend. I know the butt stock wont be a problem, but is there enough meat on the forend to add a swivel stud?

I agree and think barrel sling mounts look great as well, very classic looking. IIRC Uncle Mikes makes some nice ones that are twp piece and are easily mounted. I have a couple on shotguns and a lefver action rifle. Just determine what size/diameter you need and you will be good to go....<><....

The short studs will work, but I agree with everyone else get the barrel band type. I put a front swivel in the forearm of my TDC 20ga and it was top heavy when on my shoulder I had to walk holding the strap it was a PITA.

I just went through this on my 12ga 22" gun.
If you put the front sling swivel in the wood your forward hand will get torn up by the stud on recoil.
(ask me how I know).
I went with the Uncle Mikes 1591-2 for my 12ga and it works fine.
My gunsmith recommended using Red Locktite under the barrel band to prevent it from slipping and
so far it works well.
The Allen head screws that came with it were replaced with 8-40 Torx screws as the allen heads had
a tendency to strip out.
If you have any question about my setup please let me know.

I added a Uncle Mikes stud to the forearms on all my three 30-30 Toppers with no problem. The 30-30 doesn't recoil like a shotgun though. I drilled a small hole first and then added the screw in type stud with the white spacer.
