Sig P238 carry condition
« on: March 22, 2010, 06:20:17 PM »
Any one carrying a Sig P238 in a pocket holster ?

I have conflicting information on how to carry.  I have read where others feel good carrying in a pocket holster cocked and locked.  The man at the counter where purchased (ex LEO) tells me to carry with one in the chamber with hammer at half cock and safety on.  The Sig manual and website appear silent on this matter.

In a belt holster I would not have any issues with cocked and locked.   In a pocket holster I am a little hesitant to carry cocked and locked.

For now I am carrying on an open chamber (cocked and locked), trying to get used to pocket carry and making sure safety doesn't get switched off by accident during carry.  Holster I have does cover safety.

Should also mention, gun is brand new.  I have owned several 1911's and am very comfortable with 1911 function,  that familiarity is big part of why the P238 was attractive.  I did not want a pocket gun with long stiff Glock like trigger.

I appreciate any comments, Shane.

Called Sig and spoke with customer service.  The man I spoke with advised me cocked and locked.  Not sure shy sales guy advised me the way he did.

I carry mine in a Desantis pocket holster, hammer down on a chambered cartridge, safety on.
