new modle stainless vaquero, standard loads only?

never owned a vaquero until now, and want to know, are they only good for standard load data?

That is correct. SAAMI spec 45 colt loads, not high pressure loads. The cylinders on the new Vaqueros are the same size as a Colt 1873, not the larger diameter like the older Vaqueros or Blackhawks. Not to worry, standard 45 colt loads have plenty of punch for any normal handgun use.

  Adding to the above post...  If you feel you need loads more than SAAMI spec (Ruger only loads), MUCh better off to simply buy a more powerful chambering from the get go.

  Now then...As ALL Ruger SA's since 1973 are New Models, what would determine it would be if it was a large frame or one of the current medium framed ones.  The current sized ones were originally called "New Vaqueros" and marked as such on the cylinder frame.  They'r enow being cataloged under simple "Vaquero".   Know what you have first!
