Time to start thinking about turkey season!
« on: April 01, 2010, 12:45:48 PM »
I saw a Tom in full strut as I was driving through Limington Maine yesterday and I realized turkey season is only a month away (New Hampshire). I better get out and do some scouting pretty soon.

Anyone seeing any birds in New England yet?

Yep, daily. I check out my local spots every morning and 90% of the time Tom is willing to talk to me. I'm counting down the days. Last year I was done at 5:22 am with a 20#, 10" beard and 1.25" spurs. I was happy considering it was my first and I called him in to under 15 yds with a Primos hen call.

That's a nice first bird and great job on calling him in so close. I'm starting to see some birds near my usual hunting spots but hens only lately. I need to spend some more time in the woods.
